For anglophones, French is a useful intermediary to the world of Latin. It is also the primary parent of English. Both of those provide interesting reasons to study it, but the latter provides particularly useful grounds. French has a well-defined grammatical structure, much of which is used by English as well. And many native anglophones (native english speakers) unfortunately missed a decent introduction to grammar during their school years. Consequently, learning French provides a useful and enjoyable way of filling in missing gaps to help you better understand English.
